Flexy Wellness Yoga: Yoga for Mental Wellness

 

As a child of devout spiritual seekers, I have been immersed in Eastern spiritual traditions since birth. In 1998, I discovered Hatha Yoga while living in New York City, and was immediately awakened to the power of using breath, embodiment, and moving meditation to create inner calm. This became my antidote to the city’s frenetic energy. In 2009, I committed to deepening my yoga journey and enrolled in yoga teaching training at the Laughing Lotus College of Yoga in New York City (Lotus Flow University). Practicing, studying, and teaching yoga has become a fundamental and reliable source of grounding, healing, and inspiration. The style I share, Vinyasa Yoga, connects movement with breath in a methodical manner to foster physical, mental, and spiritual harmony. I have been teaching yoga and meditation in my community for more than 10 years.

Flexy Wellness Yoga harnesses the mind-body connection to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and promote insight, clarity, and overall thriving.

My personal experience is in alignment with a growing body of research that demonstrates the power of yoga for reducing stress, anxiety and depression, and for promoting health and well-being. As a student of Mind-Body Medicine, I am interested in exploring how yoga supports mental and emotional health. Whenever possible, I weave the science of yoga as mind-body medicine into my offerings.

In person group classes: I currently offer Gentle Flow Yoga in person at the Woodstock Inn & Resort Athletic Club.

Private yoga: I currently offer personalized, private yoga sessions via Zoom. These sessions emphasize emotional wellbeing, stress reduction, and personal insight, and are designed in the moment to help meet you where you are. Yoga styles offered: 

Gentle Vinyasa Flow - A gentle flowing practice that combines breathwork, mindful movement, and meditation.

Restorative Yoga - A sequence of longer held supported postures that restore the nervous system and quiet the mind. 

Yoga Nidra - Guided meditation to support deep rest and personal insight.

Gentle Flow & Restore - Shoshana’s signature style of practice that includes inspiration, meditation, breathwork, gentle flow, restorative postures, and deep rest.
